The New Ferrari 458 Italia Interior
In the run-up to the official unveiling of the Ferrari 458 Italia at the Frankfurt Motorshow on the 15th of September Ferrari has released official pictures of the interior and test track images, revealing a avant-garde style coupled with F1 style driver control systems.

The new Ferrari 458 Italia’s interior represent a significant step forward in the concept of the ergonomic interface between driver and car. The main commands are now grouped on the steering wheel, the secondary commands are handily set in two satellite pods either side of the dash. The new 458 does away with indicator and wiper stalks, replacing them with buttons mounted on the steering wheel. The indicator switches are on either side of the steering wheel boss and the wiper controls sit above the five-position manettino while the high/dip beam switch is located below the left indicator switch.
The steering wheel contains the red engine start button and a button for the suspension damper system, this operates in a similar way to the current 430 Scuderia.
The 458 Italia features a new information system called virtual race engineer which is capable of telling the driver when the engine, brakes and tyres are at their best operating temperature. The virtual race engineer display located to the left of the rev counter changes colour according to the temperature. Yellow means the temperature is not high enough, green is the perfect running temperature and red means “Hot”. The system has been developed from the 599XX. The experimental car unveiled at this year’s Geneva Motorshow.
The right-hand satellite pod on the dash incorporates controls for the infotainment, the Bluetooth connection, Sat nav, digital Speedo and Rear parking camera. Clustered on the left-hand satellite pod instead are the optional cruise control, buttons for choosing the video setting of the left-hand dash TFT screen and the on-board computer, the controls include the trip and the Vehicle Dynamic assistance and the display of the cars setup.
